Mac had a celebration at school on Friday to celebrate reading over 100 books this year. Here is a picture.

Mikayla also had a end-of-year celebration at school. They sang a lot of songs for us and Mikayl had a great time dancing. Here are two pictures.

Birthday preparations

So Mikayla will be turning 4 this month. Good grief, can it already be 4 years? And as we begin the countdown to that auspicious day, Mikayla and I are already planning her first big birthday party with girlfriends. She has decided to have a princess dressup party. No big surprise there.

Being my mothers daughter I have taken it upon myself to make the birthday cake. No ordinary sheet cake of course, no, we must have a princess cake to go with theme of the party. I love to bake, don't get me wrong, but decorating a cake has never been a real strong suit of mine.

So yesterday I went to the craft store, bought the mold and some decorating supplies and came home to practice. Much to little Mikayla's absolute delight. The minute she realized what I was doing she became a permanent fixture in the kitchen. I got explicit details on how she wanted her cake to look, what colors to use, etc. Below is a picture of the results. Remember, this was only a quick run through, she fully expects the REAL birthday cake to look much more elaborate.
